The Common Poppy, known locally as الخشخاش الأحمر, is a delicate and iconic flowering plant celebrated for its bright, silky red petals and distinctive black center. This classic wildflower creates a beautiful, airy look in gardens and is widely admired for its natural elegance and soft, fluttering petals.

In the UAE, the Common Poppy grows best during the cooler months (November–March) and is commonly used in villa gardens, seasonal flower beds, natural-style landscapes, and decorative pots. Its vibrant red color adds a strong visual impact and contrasts beautifully with other winter flowers.

Despite its delicate appearance, زهرة الخشخاش is surprisingly hardy, drought-tolerant, and easy to grow once established. It thrives in well-drained soil with plenty of sunlight and requires minimal maintenance. Poppies are also excellent for pollinator gardens, attracting bees and helpful insects.
